W ramach pomocy udzielonej przez Stany Zjednoczone do Tajlandii dotarło w 1961 roku 45 myśliwców F-86F-30/40 Sabre. Zastąpiły one ostatecznie wycofane w 1962 Bearcaty i pozostały w służbie do 1973 roku. Samoloty otrzymały oznaczenie Myśliwiec Typ 17.
